GRB technical papers

Over the past few years, we have worked on a number of aspects of GRB searches and astrophysics, these include:

  • Estimates of the expected rates
  • Chances of detection based on the observing scenarios paper
  • Improved detection chances if distance is known
  • Face on search
  • Sky patches
  • Time shifts (both long and short) for background estimation
  • Preparation for advanced detectors: longer templates, etc
  • Search 1 polarization for HL?

The git repository hosting papers on this subject is available at this link.

GRB pipeline paper

Discuss

  • face on
  • sky patch
  • background estimation

Suggestion is to use a GRB from the S6D time (June 26 to Oct 20). Advanced detector proof of principle

GRB astro paper

GRB motivation/rates

  • Argue that GRB time is valuable and that this lets you reduce the threshold
  • Observing scenarios from Hannah's work
  • Known redshift to improve odds

Measure redshift and GW amplitude

  • cosmology
  • beaming angles
  • use populations to get beaming angles
  • accuracy of GW parameters

Localizations

  • triangulation
  • from snr on sky grid of loudest template
  • same for face on
  • fold in Fermi probabilities
